Paul C. Marsh

Plainfield, NH – Paul C. Marsh, 76, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his home, while surrounded by his family after a brave fight against lung cancer.

He was born September 23, 1936 in Woodsville, NH a son of the late Clyde B. and Edith (Stevens) Marsh and lived for a brief time in Springfield and Windsor, VT before his family settled in Hartland, VT. Paul graduated from Windsor High School in June of 1954 and in August of that year he enlisted in the Air Force and went on to serve for twenty years retiring August of 1974 at the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He did his training in California before being sent to Korea to serve during the Korean War. After the war Paul was stationed at many bases throughout the United States, Germany, Guam and Vietnam. It was during his time in the Air Force that he married Nancy E. Stimpson in Hartland, VT. After his retirement from the military he and his family moved to Plainfield where he has lived since, and within one week of moving started a second career with Split Ball Bearing, retiring in 1996 after twenty-two years. While with Split Ball, he had a side business, Bubba’s Firewood that he ran supplying firewood to people throughout the Upper Valley.

In his spare time, Paul was a member of the American Legion Post 22 in Lebanon, enjoyed camping, singing and playing guitar, talking politics, watching NASCAR and his two favorite drivers Mark Martin and Jimmy Johnson, watching the New York Yankees and spending time with his many Dachshunds Duke, Timmy, Mindy Mae and Minnie Pearl. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he gave each a special nickname to.

He was predeceased by two sisters Lucille Stearns and Linda Buckley.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Plainfield; a son Greg Marsh and his wife Mel of Enfield; two daughters Cheryl LaFountain and her husband Keith of Lebanon and Robin LaBombard and her husband Ronald of Lebanon, NH; his siblings Dick Marsh of Claremont, NH; Pat Abbot of Cornish, NH; Jimmy Marsh of Charlestown, NH and Clyde B. Marsh, Jr. of Croydon, NH; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends can call at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2-4 PM. There will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Dr. Lebanon, NH 03756.
