David L. Berg

West Lebanon, NH – David Berg quietly passed away, at his home, surrounded by his family, on August 3, 2012. He was born in Hanover NH and lived most of his life in the Upper Valley. He is survived by his parents Richard and Suzanne Berg of West Lebanon, sister Jennifer Eastman of Strafford, VT two nephews Nicholas Bergeron and Colby Shambo and several aunts, uncles and cousins in New England and the Mid-West.

He started schooling in Fairbanks, Alaska while the family was there for three years. He continued his schooling at the Upper Valley Developmental Center in Lebanon and completed schooling in the Lebanon school system in 1985.

He was employed as a front end clerk at Purity Supreme, Shaw’s and Price Chopper grocery stores in West Lebanon until he was unable to work.

He enjoyed watching sports and participated in several NH Special Olympic sports. He was chosen as a participant on the State of New Hampshire’s team for the 1987 International Summer Special Olympic Games at Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN. A photo of him at those games appeared in a sponsoring company’s advertisements for the next few years. He enjoyed traveling with his parents and sister to and from Alaska. He also enjoyed trips abroad with parents and particularly enjoyed winter visits to New Port Richey, FL.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School Street, Lebanon, NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Sacred Heart Parish, 2 Hough Street, Lebanon, NH.

In lieu of flowers, Dave’s family request donations be made to Special Olympics New Hampshire, 650 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101 or the Vermont-New Hampshire Hospice, PO Box 976, White River Junction, VT 05001.
