Wilder, VT – Leona, I. Jackson, 85, died Monday, July 09, 2012 at Valley Terrace in Wilder.
She was born on August 11, 1926 in Tunbridge, VT a daughter of the late Howard and Eleanor (White) Fisk. She grew up and attended school in South Royalton, VT before marrying Charles Caswell in 1943 and the two of them made their home in South Royalton. She later was married to Ralph “Jack” Jackson and together they lived in Cornish, NH for a time before moving to Canaan, NH. Leona later moved to Wilder in 1999 and had most recently lived at Valley Terrace.
She worked at Walpole Wire for a time as well as the Lobster Trap in Cornish and Eaton’s in South Royalton. In her spare time she raised Oxen with her husband Jack and emjoyed horseback riding and will be remembered for loving to spend time with all her animals, including her horses, oxen, cats and dogs. Leona was a member of the New England Oxen Teamsters Association.
Leona was predeceased her husband Jack in 1993; a brother Clayton Fisk and a sister Lillian McAllister.
She is survived by her two children Maureen Caswell of Cos Cob, CT and Randall Caswell of Tunbridge; two stepchildren Barbara McHugh of Enfield, NH and Carlene Eitapence of Fairlee, VT; a brother Rodney Fisk of Tunbridge; two sisters Loraine Battey of Hudson, NH and Maire Hemmingway of Wilder and many nieces and nephews.
At Leona’s request there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at their convenience in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield.
